EILEEN SWAIN MEMORIAL EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

ESIC Baptist Church has established "The Eileen Swain Memorial Educational Scholarship" to honor the memory of Mrs. Eileen Swain.  Eileen Swain was a long time member of ESIC Baptist Church.  She taught Sunday school and served as Sunday School Superintendent until her death in 2005.  She taught 6^th grade at Glen Carbon School in the Edwardsville Community Unit Schools for many years and a concern for and the education of children was her life-time concern.  Upon her passing, her family bequeathed a sum of money to ESIC Baptist Church to be distributed annually to teachers at Glen Carbon School in her name. 

The Swain family and ESIC Baptist church understand that teachers never have enough money to provide for themselves, their students, and their classrooms. The modest sum of money awarded as the Eileen Swain Scholarship is strictly a gift to honor selected Glen Carbon teachers.  On the first day of school each year, two Glen Carbon teachers are chosen by a random draw to receive the scholarship.

The church is collecting for the Eileen Swain Scholarship during the months of May and June.  Money previously used to buy roses for mother's in the church on Mother's Day has been transferred to the Eileen Swain Scholarship Fund.
